Hello Sumpter Stingray Families,

My name is Mrs. Coplantz and I am the new counselor at Sumpter. I sent out a video telling everyone a little about myself so I hope you have had an opportunity to check that out. I come to Sumpter after being an Aspire Mentor, a mentoring program to help high school students navigate their way to college, an AVID Tutor at South Salem High School and Leslie Middle School, a teacher at third and fifth grade levels and an elementary school counselor. As you can see, I love working with students of all ages and am very excited to be at Sumpter.

This continues to be an unprecedented time for all of us. We are all learning so much about technology and how to be a community without gathering at Sumpter like we may want. Right now it is normal to feel worried, nervous, sad, frustrated, weird, angry, bored, stressed and confused. It is also important to find moments of happiness, fun and joy. I am here to help you have the best school year possible, no matter where you are learning. Please contact me if I can help support your learning process.  I plan to work with students in classrooms and in small groups as the year progresses. I will be dropping into classrooms to introduce myself to students in the next several weeks. If you have any questions or would like to chat, you can call me at the school most days or email me at coplantz_lisa@salkeiz.k12.or.us to set up a Zoom meeting. I am looking forward to partnering with parents in their childrens’ education.

In October, Sumpter will be working with Operation School Bell to provide school clothing and shoes to students with financial need. If you would like to participate in Operation School Bell, please call the school at 503-399-3337 or send me an e-mail. Requests will be submitted throughout October.

With much excitement and gratitude,

Lisa Coplantz
